Daylight Savings Time and the start of spring are reminders that we are almost a quarter of the way through the New Year. Precious time keeps ticking, and I guess if we are philosophical about it we could consider Bernard Berenson’s quote: “I wish I could stand on a busy corner, hat in hand, and beg people to throw me all their wasted hours.”
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could recycle some of our wasted time and make something valuable out of it? What would you do if you were given a refund on time?
One of the most effective ways we have for creating positive momentum toward goals, for lifting ourselves out of a slump, and for living a more fulfilling life is to pull ourselves out of the grasp of time wasters. Some we cling to in order to hide from other challenges. Some we delude ourselves into thinking are impossible to avoid.
As you enjoy the extra daylight this week, imagine what it would take to pass Bernard Berenson on the street corner three months from now and be fresh out of wasted hours to toss into his hat.
