You could be at risk if you see patients with Delta/Moda coverage
The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) has recently come out with new requirements for dental practices that see patients with Oregon Educators (OEBB) or Public Employee Benefits Board (PEBB) coverage. These patients will show up as covered under Delta/Moda in your dental practice. The OHA has mandated practices that see patients with this coverage (which would be most practices in Oregon), have a more robust Cyber Insurance/Data Breach Insurance policy in place. This new cyber insurance/data breach policy must cover things like third party claims, unauthorized disclosures, losses, thefts or use of member data and have a minimum coverage level of $500,000.
Even if your practice has had a cyber insurance/data breach insurance policy in place in the past, please do not assume this policy will meet the new requirements of the Oregon Health Authority. Please reach out to your current insurance broker to confirm your policy will meet these new requirements, which started to take effect on 10/1/2024.
If you currently do not have a Cyber Insurance/Data Breach Insurance policy in place, you will need to obtain this coverage. Please reach out to your manager at Fluence if you don’t have coverage, and we can provide a referral for an insurance broker to obtain a policy through.
